How it works
Sound Transit doesn't publish live parking counts, so the only way to know a garage is full has been to drive there. Link Lot Checker is a rider-run workaround.
Where the status comes from
Every status on this site is a report from a rider who just parked or left. Nothing is official and nothing is measured by sensors.
- Full stays up until someone reports open spots, or until 2 pm on weekdays. Garages rarely empty out mid-morning.
- Two riders agreeing within half an hour, or one report in the last 10 minutes, counts as fresh.
- If reports disagree within 15 minutes, the lot shows Filling up.
- Reports older than 45 minutes show dashed and faded. After a few hours they drop off.
Permit areas
Some garages reserve part of the lot for permit holders from 4 to 10 am on weekdays. After 10 am anyone can park there. Riders can report the permit area separately, so you can tell whether showing up at 10 is worth it.
Typical fill times
Once a station has a few weeks of reports, its page shows the usual time it fills for that day of the week. Until then it shows Sound Transit's published guidance where there is some.
Privacy
No accounts. Your browser keeps a random ID so we can rate-limit reports. We store a salted hash of that ID and of your IP address, never the raw values, and no location. Push alert subscriptions are stored so we can send alerts, and deleted when you turn them off.
Please don't report while driving
Park first, or hand your phone to a passenger. Washington's distracted driving law applies, and no parking spot is worth it.
Who runs this
Link Lot Checker is an independent project by Montide Labs. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Sound Transit or King County Metro. Station names are used only to say which lot a report is about.
Keep it running
Hosting is kept near free on purpose. If it saves you a wasted drive, you can chip in for the servers.
